Flavours by Kumar serves up fine Indian cuisine in Ramsgate, Kent, prepared by chef Anil Kumar (previously Head Chef at the Ambrette in Margate). The unique dishes are delicately flavoured with fresh local ingredients and beautifully presented.
The restaurant opened in 2013, and within two years of opening was awarded the prestigious Tiffin cup – an annual award given to the best South Asian restaurant in the UK each year – and it’s not hard to see why.
We have visited several times and have never been disappointed; we even had our Christmas dinner here last year.

The delicate entrées served between courses
There is evident pride in the consistently well-presented and well-perfected food that is served
The service is always very professional
The converted pub venue has retained the central bar and pub décor charm
The food here is always beautiful and delicately flavoured, the dishes have clearly been well rehearsed and perfected. You can taste the flavour of the meat in the dishes with subtle spices coming through – a standard vindaloo-serving curry house this is not.
For the quality of food this is an incredibly reasonably-priced restaurant. The lamb shank – when it’s on the specials menu – is huge and recommended highly, as is the rose flavoured coconut creme brulee.
The overall experience is lovely, fine dining in a not overly pretentious setting that will delight the taste buds and the eyes.
