Thai restaurant, Papaya, opened in George street in Hove in March 2016. At the time of writing they are open for lunch and also until 9pm for dinner and operate on a BYO basis as they don’t have a license to serve alcohol.
We tried this place once for lunch and have been back almost weekly since as it is so good. It has quickly overtaken the ‘Lickle More Caribbean Kitchen’ as our go-to place for a cheap and delicious weekend lunch.
Visited: Almost weekly since they opened in March 2016
Pretty much everything but specifically: –
Excellent value for money (about £6-£7 a main course)
The pots of chilli on the table so that you can add heat to your own taste
Everything we’ve tried has been good – the curries, pad thai, stir fries and noodle soups
It’s bring your own (with small corkage fee) making an evening meal even more reasonably priced.
Having to wait for a socially acceptable amount of time before we can go back for our next meal.
This restaurant has everything you could ask for in a Thai restaurant / noodle bar. The service is quick and friendly, the food is delicious and it offers excellent value for money. Although it hasn’t been open long, I’m pleased to see that word of mouth has got out as it’s always been popular when we’ve visited. I hope that this restaurant continues to do well and that it remains in operation for a long time as this has become such a firm favourite.
The staff will happily recommend dishes to you if you’re not sure what to have, talking through your likes and dislikes and they’re very helpful with Tim’s peanut allergy.
Overall verdict: 9/10
Cost of food: Around £6-£8 per person
